A Strip of Fashion Boutiques
West 4th Avenue is the primary shopping strip in Kitsilano, hosting a good number of fantastic clothing shops all within walking distance of each other. We’ve listed a few of our favourite clothing stores on West 4th but bear in mind that this is only a small sampler, there are many more clothing, shoe, and accessories stores beyond what we have listed here.
Plum
This women’s clothing store has been a Kitsilano Fashion fixture among locals since 1981. They design over 50% of their items in-house and they stick to local and Canadian designers whenever possible. The clothing and accessories are sized to fit a variety of figures; good fit is a distinct goal of the Plum designers. According to their site their “corporate culture is built on helping each customer to uncover their individual style” with a variety of styles that are meant to last over time rather than catering to passing fads.
Ray Rickburn
This store is known for its quality casual menswear featuring a wide range of classic fashion brand names. In their words they offer “an exceptional blend of the best of nostalgia, culture and style reflected in a unique product mix of local and international brands.”

Described in the Georgia Straight as a “lovely indie clothing boutique” this woman’s’ clothing store provides unusual fashion polarities: lacy party dresses, edgy pieces with hardware embellishments, soft and feminine vs. hard rock ‘n; roll. If you’re looking for something unique and highly stylized, c. by chelsea is unlikely to disappoint.

gravitypope
If you’re looking for high quality clothing and shoes for both men and women, gravitypope Vancouver is your store. The atmosphere is a delight to shop in, they put great care into decorating and their shops are gorgeous retail spaces. They describe themselves as an “independently owned boutique providing Canada with an extensive array of carefully chosen, beautiful, unique, and handcrafted collections of footwear, clothing and accessories, gathered from all over the world.” Their shoe store and clothing store are right next door to each other, they’re both worth checking out!
